Corrour and Loch Ossian day out

A trip to Corrour by train followed by a walk around Loch Ossian provides a marvellous day out.

You can board the train at Banavie or Corpach and 45-50 minutes later you are in this lovely remote area.   It is only really practical to use the two morning trains for a day visit.   Similarly you have just two returning trains to choose from.   The journey there provides some stunning scenery, particularly alongside Loch Treig.   There are a few rough roads serving the vast Corrour estate but essentially it is car free and great for walking.   Five Munros can easily be achieved in this area, two to the south and three to the north of Loch Ossian.   These hikes can be fitted in between the trains but the limited schedule means a bit of clock watching and brisk walking.   Otherwise a walk or cycle ride around Loch Ossian is perfectly reasonable.   The Corrour Station House provides excellent food and bottled ale to finish off the day.   The venison is particularly good and is provided by the estate itself.  It is great adventure day and something a bit different at anytime of year.
