Just 12 miles west of us is the beautiful area of Glenfinnan, with many interesting things to do and see.

It is a popular location to see The Jacobite passing over the viaduct.  The north end of Loch Shiel provides some excellent scenery walking and cycling opportunities.   There is a wonderful bicycle trip to Polloch for the more energetic.  You could take a cruise on the Loch and hopefully view the Sea Eagles.   Loch Shiel Cruises runs various trip options running April through to October.    They depart from the pier close to Glenfinnan House Hotel where the parking is free for clients.   On the shoreline stands the monument dedicated to the memory of the Jacobite rebellion stands on the shoreline.   The National Trust runs the monument site and has a visitor centre, café and parking.  Be aware that parking is a huge issue because of the Hogwarts/Jacobite enthusiasts.
